Contest 09 - Captains of Trek
For this contest we will be drawing/making literature for the captains of trek! There will be a section for each captain as well as a grand prize fan-fave winner to be chosen from the captain section with the most entries.
Also, please consider donating drawing requests to the winners so we don't have to ask at the last second for volunteers. Thanks!
- Draw an illustration or write a fiction for your favorite trek captain/s.
- You may include other characters with your captain, but do NOT include multiple captains in the same image/fiction.
- You may have one entry per section.
- If you’re aiming to win, submitting an entry into the section with the least entries is a good strategy.
- For Captain Kirk you may draw/write about either version of Kirk (original or reboot).
- No fan characters are allowed in this contest.
July's Challenge - Week 4: PeopleUpdate: Week 4 is here! You have until Friday to get your sketches in. Anyone can join in, even if you missed the first week. Huge shoutout to 42Ly, Dahkur, and LadyKylin for completing week 3.
Hi folks! It's July, and this month's challenge is going to be a fun one. This month, you are all tasked with doing some life studies! By the time this month is out, you'll be art-ing like nobody's business. Let's start this first week with something that's both incredibly common in art...and terribly intimidating. Hands!
What you will need:
Pen/Pencil and Paper. This challenge should be done traditionally (not digitally). You don't need fancy pens or paper, either. Use a napkin, if you want!
A watch to time yourself. You can use a stopwatch on your phone if have one, or any number of free stopwatches on the internet. Or even just a regular watch or clock.
Speed painting challenge!Hey guys!
I've really been into speed painting lately, so I wanted to challenge myself. And also you!
The idea of a speed painting is that you take a limited amount of time for a painting. This can be half an hour, or up to two hours, depending how much time you have (and are willing to spend). During that time you make a painting, or get as far as possible. When you reach the time limit, the painting is done. No getting back to it. No cheating. It's done.
Use any medium. I use digital, because it's fast and clean. But you can use traditional as well.
Use references if needed. Don't forget; References are GOOD!!!
Take these tips and tricks to heart.
Take 1 to 2 hours per painting. Not more. Don't cheat.
